I'm A Girl and Proud Of It!

Good Sunday to all!  Hope everyone is enjoying this last day of February.  Well, as promised, here is how I know I'm a girl.  Not that I ever doubted it...

It all started when DH said we needed a new grill.  I know a grill isn't very girl-y, but boy did I turn it into a less than masculine experience!  We saw one that I fell in love with -- it had all the accessories to make it pretty -- all stainless, side infrared burner, a warming drawer/slow cooker, rotisserie, tons of storage.  It really was pretty!!!  Well, I almost had DH hooked, too, but he wanted to do some research and look a few other places, smart man that he is.  Shh, don't tell him I said that! ;)

Then DH found the grill he wanted, the basic model although updated with stainless interior/exterior.  It is an awesome brand and very well made, life expectancy of FOREVER, but it isn't pretty.  Where is all it's bling?  It hit me hard, as we stood there in Home Depot with the four kids, I am without a doubt a girl! I wanted the other grill simply because it was pretty, it had the right accessories.  Both of the grills were the basic black dress, something we all MUST have, but one just had better accessories!

I immediately looked at DH and said it was up to him, I had no part in this man's world!!!  This wasn't the type of shopping I was made for!  Needless to say, DH thought I had lost my mind -- what no opinion?!  We ended up with the grill he wanted.  Truth be told, it really was the better grill.  Again, don't tell him!

While at Home Depot, I continued to realize what a girl I am.  I HAD to have this lime green aim-n-flame:

Won't it be the envy of every Lilly Pulitzer loving girl?!  Come to think of it, maybe I should call Lifeguard Press and hint they make an LP lighter -- they already sell LP matches!

I also HAD to go through all the other grill accessories to help "doll-up" DH's new find.  What did I find, well let me tell you... a HUGE sale on all of last years accessories!  I was finally back in my element and I really don't think the new grill will mind sporting the best of 2009.  I was able to find some wonderful stainless steel cleaner and revitalizer -- so she'll (the grill that is) will be all shiny and a few other accessories at like 60 or 70% off.  That always makes my day!!!

What did I learn from all this?!  I'm very grateful I'm a girl and that I found such a wonderful man that would allow me to turn a trip to Home Depot into something just short of a girl-y shopping spree!  Thanks DH!!

XOXO,

Kim

The Day is Almost Over... Where Did It Go?!

Hello all!  Today has been busier than normal, but didn't want to go without checking in.  Tomorrow I'll do better, promise.  Actually, today has given me lots of inspiration and I can't wait to share some funny tales with you.  Enjoy your evening and come back tomorrow to learn how I know I'm a girl...

Priorities...

Some friends have been asking how I have time to write this blog and home school my brood and help DH with his business, I think you get the picture.  Well, it's all about priorities.  Do I worry about the piling dishes in the sink or toys on the floor right now or do I help the kids with school and give them the extra word of encouragement they may need?  My kids will ALWAYS come first, well, as long as company isn't coming over right away.  That being said, I don't live in a house full of trash and I try to keep order.  But, how much order is there with four kids -- three of which are 5 and younger!! I must accept that fact.

I live with clutter a lot of the time, but also live for every other week when the house cleaner comes and I have a brand new beautiful home for 5 minutes!!!  It's all good, though.  The kids make a mess, they clean it up (with some coaxing) and it all starts over again -- the true circle of life! :).  I wouldn't have it any other way.

How do I do it all?  Simply put, I don't!  At least not all at once!  I prioritize, family first always and all else seems to fall in place most of the time.  If you focus on your family it's easy to get it all accomplished, because you want to do your best for them.  At the end of the day that's all you can do anyway.

Hope this gives you some encouragement!

XOXO

Spring Time Anyone?

Hello all!  Well, today is a cold one here!  When will it be spring????  I really love warm weather and want to go to the beach.  Soon, I hope!!

Heck, this year I'm trying something I haven't been able to do in a LONG time, where a bikini.  Now, if I only I grow the courage to wear it outside of the house.  I guess we'll soon find out.  Hopefully, the oldest son will get over his bikini phobia, he can' even stand his two sisters wearing them.  Very funny!!

If anyone is interested in a bikini, I HIGHLY recommend Lilly Pulitzer.  They are now selling them as separates and for those of us who are just a couple of years past our teens, make bottoms that cover!!!! Of course, they have other styles, too.

So, I'm trying to figure out how all this works and how to incorporate pictures.  Don't worry, I won't scare you with a bikini shot of myself! :)  Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend and can figure it out.  Can't wait to share some FABULOUS pictures, nay, ART PIECES by the incredible Ken Rada who has been shooting away in Destin -- no fair!!!

Have a wonderful day all!  Off to work with the older two on their schoolwork....

Another Day in Paradise

Today is busy, but wanted to make sure I checked in.  It started with me waking up a little late and been playing catch up ever since.  Favorite quote of the day:  I'm so behind, I think I'm in first place!

While crazy, it's been a good one.  The kids and I had our favorite hair goddess over and now we all look stunning! ;)  DH seems happy with my new look, ALWAYS good!!  Also received my new necklace and earrings from Kate Puck Jewelry -- so beautiful and beachy!  Will try to post pictures later.  Please don't hold me to it, though!

Well, must get back to school with the kids -- can't have them fall as far behind as I am!

Hello All

Well, I've decided to try something new and hope you will join me on this journey!  Today, I'll just tell you a little about myself.  I'm a SAHM of four kids (2 boys -- 10 and 1 and 2 girls 3 and 5).  As if this wasn't enough, I have taken on the responsibility of home schooling the kids and helping my DH with his business.  While life may be hectic, there isn't a thing I would change.  I love being creative and hope this blog will help me explore a side of me I have put away for quite sometime.  I love to find bargains, especially when they include Lilly Pulitzer, and   am learning more about photography.  Just some of the stuff I would like to explore here.  Happy day to all!
